Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all tax matters across the Group's international operations
- Oversee corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax and other direct and indirect tax obligations
- Manage UAE Corporate Tax and VAT compliance requirements
- Coordinate tax reporting and compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Review and advise on cross-border transactions and international business activities
- Assess the tax implications of intercompany arrangements, financing structures, dividends and royalty payments
- Evaluate withholding tax positions and permanent establishment exposure across jurisdictions
- Support transfer pricing compliance, documentation reviews and benchmarking exercises
- Liaise with external tax advisors on tax returns, tax opinions, audits and regulatory matters
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the business
- Support tax planning initiatives and advise on efficient structures for investments and growth projects
- Review the tax implications of acquisitions, disposals, restructurings and corporate transactions
- Partner with Finance and Treasury teams on funding and financing arrangements
- Identify potential tax risks and ensure appropriate controls and processes are implemented
- Manage tax audits, disputes and correspondence with tax authorities
- Ensure accurate tax provisions and disclosures are reflected in financial reporting
- Maintain a comprehensive tax compliance calendar and ensure statutory deadlines are met
- Develop and maintain tax policies, procedures and governance frameworks
- Provide practical tax advice to commercial and operational teams
- Act as the primary tax subject matter expert across the organisation
- Travel regularly to international operating locations, including Africa, Asia-Pacific and other jurisdictions as required
Qualifications
- Qualified CA, ACCA or equivalent professional qualification
- 8 to 12 years of relevant tax experience
- Previous experience within a Big 4 firm and/or multinational group environment
- Strong background in international taxation and cross-border transactions
- Solid understanding of UAE Corporate Tax and VAT
- Experience with transfer pricing principles and documentation requirements
- Knowledge of withholding taxes and international tax treaties
- Ability to work independently in a standalone role
- Commercially minded with strong analytical capabilities
- Experience managing external advisors and tax authority relationships
- Exposure to operations across Africa and/or the Asia-Pacific region would be beneficial
- Willingness and ability to undertake regular international travel - travelling on a monthly basis to the Africa offices
