The Tax Manager will play a critical role in the financial operations of Gemcorp, managing tax compliance and advisory work across the ICS business. This individual will ensure legal obligations are met, risks are minimized, and tax efficiency is driven. The Tax Manager will collaborate with senior members of Finance, Legal, and HR to support the group's long-term growth objectives.

Main Responsibilities

1. Tax Compliance: Ensure tax compliance obligations are met efficiently and on time.
2. Driving Tax Efficiency: Provide input and support to business initiatives, drive tax efficiency, and manage ICS business tax costs. Manage tax risk to reduce penalties and maintain the group's reputation as a compliant corporate citizen.
3. Relationships with Tax Authorities and External Providers: Manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors, selecting support providers and managing fees.
4. Tax Reporting: Support tax provisioning and reporting for the ICS group. Lead and mentor a Tax Manager (based in Africa) and contribute to the broader team.

Experience and Skills

1. Education: Professional Tax, Accounting, or Legal Qualification.
2. Experience: 12+ years of relevant tax experience, ideally in a commodities trading environment. Experience in energy and infrastructure sectors is a plus. Proven experience managing tax for international groups, M&A, new country entry, and structuring tax-efficient solutions. Knowledge of payroll taxes, expat taxes, VAT, and customs. Previous team leadership experience.
3. Skills and Competencies: Deep knowledge of tax, including transfer pricing, Pillar II, and international tax. Ability to handle complex issues, apply judgment, and demonstrate strong leadership, team-building, and communication skills. Fluency in English; Portuguese and/or Arabic are a plus.
