System Administrator

Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure including network for the border control system environment.

Responsibilities

• Install new versions of the Oracle RDBMS and its tools and any other tools that access the Oracle database.
• Using ANSIBLE to automate provisioning, configuration management, application deployment, orchestration, and many other IT processes.
• Install and configure App servers (Tomcat server, Jboss).
• Must possess proven administration ability on RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and/or CentOS 5, 6, and/or 7, Linux Process management utilities, bash scripting, and SQL queries.
• Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
• Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off-site as necessary.
• Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
• Install and configure GoldenGate database for data replication factors.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
• Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.
• Troubleshoot problems regarding the databases, applications, and development tools.
• Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
• Manage network devices (switches and F5) using network configuration and debugging utilities. Monitor server and tools, NTP (ntpd).
• System backup/restore using third-party software such as Veeam or TSM.
• Manage partitions and hard drives at your system - especially at different RAID levels and logical volumes management (LVM).
• Virtualization (Vmware, Hyper-V, etc.).
• Storage installation, configuration, management, and support.

Qualifications

• System Administration, LAN/WAN Knowledge, Performance Tuning; Strong analytical skills.
• Strong Linux administration skills; F5 network big IP; Application servers knowledge (Tomcat).
• Troubleshooting, learning, and solving problems quickly.
• MCSE & VMware certification is preferred.
• Knowledge about Oracle database including tables, DML, GoldenGate, Backup, and restore.
