Role Context The Swimming Instructor is responsible for developing students ' swimming ability, water confidence, fitness, technique, and safety awareness through structured aquatic education. The position also carries significant responsibility for pool safety and student supervision. The instructor will coordinate closely with teachers, classroom assistants, parents, competition organizers, and school leadership while supervising the swimming assistant and supporting wider sports programs. Key Responsibilities

• Teach swimming lessons across different classes and age groups while maintaining clear learning objectives and appropriate progression.
• Plan structured swimming sessions that develop technique, water confidence, fitness, coordination, and water safety awareness.
• Adapt instruction for beginners, intermediate swimmers, advanced students, and learners requiring additional support.
• Maintain constant supervision of children in and around the swimming pool during lessons and activities.
• Ensure a responsible staff member is always monitoring students in the water while swimming sessions are underway.
• Supervise and coordinate the swimming assistant to support safe and effective lesson delivery.
• Demonstrate swimming techniques clearly and provide practical correction to improve student performance.
• Coach students in stroke development, starts, turns, breathing, endurance, and competition preparation.
• Promote discipline, teamwork, confidence, goal-setting, and sportsmanship through swimming activities.
• Assess student progress and maintain appropriate records of skill development and achievement.
• Provide constructive feedback to students, parents, teachers, and school leadership on swimming progress.
• Identify students requiring additional coaching and adapt training to address specific development needs.
• Enforce pool rules and maintain a safe environment before, during, and after swimming activities.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to aquatic emergencies within the scope of lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR training.
• Apply established Normal Operating Procedures and Emergency Operating Procedures during all pool activities.
• Monitor risk factors associated with swimming lessons, equipment, student behaviour, and poolside activity.
• Liaise with class teachers and classroom assistants regarding student care and supervision before and after lessons.
• Coordinate lesson timetables, extracurricular sessions, competitions, and swimming events with relevant school teams.
• Lead extracurricular swimming activities and structured development programs for students.
• Organize and participate in swimming galas, competitions, team events, and other sports-related activities.
• Manage event logistics including student participation, equipment preparation, scheduling, and poolside coordination.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student achievements, development, and relevant safety matters.
• Maintain professional communication with teaching staff, assistants, coaches, and school management.
• Liaise with external swimming organizations, competition organizers, federations, and health or safety authorities where required.

Ideal Profile Candidates must hold a UAE-approved Swimming Coach Certificate. A valid First Aid Certificate and practical CPR knowledge are required. Applicants must be qualified to teach swimming and should also hold an appropriate lifeguard qualification. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong expertise in swimming instruction for students of different ages, abilities, and confidence levels. Sound knowledge of pool operations, risk management, water safety, Normal Operating Procedures, and Emergency Operating Procedures is essential. Candidates should be capable of planning, delivering, and assessing structured swimming lessons while also managing competitions, extracurricular programs, and student development activities. Experience supervising or mentoring assistants is valuable, particularly where the role requires coordination with teachers, classroom support staff, and parents.
