Job description

We are seeking a skilled and presentable Sushi Chef to join our team at one of our renowned restaurants in the Gulf region. The ideal candidate should be fluent in English and capable of working in an open kitchen environment, engaging confidently with guests while maintaining high culinary standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present high-quality sushi dishes including nigiri, sashimi, maki, and specialty rolls.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sushi counter.
  • Engage with guests in the open kitchen setting in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Ensure all food preparation and storage standards comply with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Monitor inventory and ensure freshness of all ingredients, especially seafood.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team on new menu items and seasonal specials.
  • Train and guide junior kitchen staff if required.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef, preferably in a high-end or open kitchen restaurant.
  • Excellent knife skills and deep knowledge of sushi preparation and presentation.
  • Fluent in English; able to interact with guests and colleagues confidently.
  • Presentable appearance with strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Gulf region dining preferences is a plus.
  • Culinary certification or training in Japanese cuisine is an advantage.
