JOB TITLE : Supervisor - Construction (Lifting)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. Review lift plans for Non-Routine (Complex and Critical Categories), Weighing procedures, and Loadout Manuals with Construction Support Operations (CSO) department at the home office. Ensure compliance with Petrofac and project HSSE policies and guidelines.
2. Work closely with Construction lead and team leads to develop lift and haul schedules at site, optimizing the utilization of lifting resources according to site priorities.
3. Assess lifting/hauling operations to plan, select appropriate cranes and lifting gear & equipment, provide instructions, and ensure safety precautions.
4. Support in developing lift studies, heavy haul plans, weighing and loadout plans, method statements, and JSA’s.
5. Conduct daily site audits to ensure HSE and lifting/hauling inspections and procedures are followed.
6. Monitor project lifting & rigging operations to ensure compliance with approved plans and procedures.
7. Serve as a qualified person for all load-out, load-in, and erection activities using lifting equipment.
8. Ensure all lifting/hauling equipment is well maintained, inspected, certified by approved third parties, and meets regulatory standards.
9. Ensure personnel involved in lifting/hauling are trained, competent, and certified.
10. Review and approve routine lift plans, rigging & lifting procedures, lift studies, and subcontractor lift plans.
11. Establish procedures for reporting defects and incidents, and implement corrective actions.
12. Ensure adherence to Petrofac procedures by subcontractors.
13. Support onsite verification of competency assessments.
14. Provide site construction feedback via Construction Observation Forms.

Skills & Competencies :

• Good communication skills
• Knowledge of international lifting and rigging standards such as ASME and OSHA
• Trained and competent per local legal requirements (e.g., Abu Dhabi EHSMS – EHS Code of Practice 34.0)
• Formal training from an approved third-party institute (e.g., NPORS BV or equivalent), approved by Petrofac and OPITO accredited. Letters from crane suppliers are not accepted.
• Authorization in writing from the employing company and Petrofac
• Ability to produce work reports
• Familiarity with PTW systems
• Ability to coordinate SIMOPS
• Capability to train and qualify riggers, rigging supervisors, and crane operators
• Knowledge of interpreting lifting drawings and calculations, reviewing and approving lift plans/studies, rigging, and lifting procedures
• Ability to generate project-specific lifting and rigging procedures when necessary
• Basic knowledge of inspecting stationary lifting equipment like overhead cranes, gantries, davit arms, and winches
