Role: Liwa Education Subject Lead Mathematics
Reporting to: Director of Schools Internal
Interaction Relationships: Principals, School Senior Leadership members, LE Team members, Academic Assistants, Assessment Coordinators, Subject Heads of Department, Head of Administration
External Interaction Relationships: Governmental education authorities, Educational curriculum organisations, External assessment organisations, Examination boards
Roles and Responsibilities:
- As a key member of the Liwa Education team:
- Support the Liwa Education vision and high aspirations with a focus on students' achievement and personal development.
- Contribute to evaluating the schools' strengths and weaknesses to promote improvement.
- Use performance data to monitor, evaluate, and improve student performance in the subject.
- Assist in the school's financial management to achieve educational priorities.
- Engage with parents as needed to support pupils and enhance outcomes.
- As a leader, expert, and champion of their subject:
- Plan, deliver, assess, and support the subject across all schools and grades.
- Ensure the curriculum is of high quality, broad, relevant, and meets international and national standards.
- Regularly review and update the Scope and Sequence documents and ensure they include relevant external links.
- Coordinate with staff to ensure curriculum delivery meets standards.
- Ensure assessment tools are valid, reliable, and fit for purpose, with accurate reporting.
- Produce detailed reports on student learning, progress, and attainment levels.
- Develop and implement an annual plan for the subject, analyzing strengths, weaknesses, and student performance.
- Collaborate with Assessment Coordinators to ensure assessments adhere to policies, especially regarding integrity and security.
- Provide subject expertise to staff as needed.
Any other duties as directed by the Director of Schools.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Quality, relevance, and breadth of the subject curriculum and extracurricular activities.
- Percentage of students achieving international standards.
- Achievement of curriculum targets by students and cohorts.
Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor Degree or higher in the relevant subject area.
- ADEK recognized professional teaching qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience.
- Minimum 3 years in a leadership role in the relevant subject area.
- Minimum 3 years in curriculum design and review.
- Minimum 3 years in assessment design and reporting.
Technical and Behavioral Competencies:
- Excellent organizational, numerical, communication, teambuilding, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of curriculum design and student assessment.
- Understanding of assessment/examination procedures and ADEK/MOE regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office, data analysis, report writing, and relevant technical tools.
