Job summary

Gulf Contracting & Landscaping (GCL) in the United Arab Emirates seeks a Structural Engineer – Machine Room Works to lead the design, analysis, and execution support of machine rooms, foundations, and steel structures. You will coordinate with MEP and civil teams, review drawings, perform dynamic and vibration analyses, and ensure compliance with local regulations and international standards.

UAE/GCC experience is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Structural Engineering; Master's preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) preferred.
• 5–10 years of structural engineering experience in industrial/mechanical projects; UAE/GCC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for machine rooms, foundations, and steel platforms.
• Perform calculations for heavy machinery, dynamic loads, vibration, and anchoring systems.
• Coordinate with MEP, architectural, and civil teams to ensure project execution.
• Prepare structural calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.

Job description

The Structural Engineer – Machine Room Works is responsible for the structural design, assessment, and execution support of machine rooms, equipment foundations, steel support structures, platforms, and associated civil works. The role ensures that all structural elements safely support heavy mechanical equipment while complying with project specifications, international design standards, and local authority regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and analyze structural systems for machine rooms, equipment foundations, concrete pedestals, steel platforms, and support structures.
• Perform structural calculations for heavy machinery, dynamic loads, vibration, and equipment anchoring systems.
• Review machine layouts and ensure structural compatibility with mechanical and electrical installations.
• Prepare structural design calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, and Civil teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Review contractor shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and material submittals.
• Conduct structural inspections during construction to ensure compliance with approved designs.
• Assess existing structures and recommend strengthening or modification solutions where required.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable international standards and local authority requirements.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
• Support project teams by resolving structural and site-related engineering issues.
• Review method statements and lifting plans related to structural installations.
• Promote compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards throughout project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structural Engineering.
• Master's Degree in Structural Engineering is an advantage.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or equivalent certification is preferred.

Experience

• 5–10 years of structural engineering experience in industrial, mechanical, infrastructure, or heavy equipment projects.
• UAE/GCC experience is highly preferred.
• Experience in machine room construction, industrial buildings, equipment foundations, and structural steel works.
• Experience working with contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel design.
• Experience designing equipment foundations, machine bases, and steel support structures.
• Understanding of dynamic loading, vibration analysis, and anchor bolt design.
