Job summary

Apave UAE seeks a Structural & Calculation Engineer to perform design reviews and independent calculations for major Dubai projects, including high-rises and infra works. You will validate FEA models, ensure stability, fire safety and compliance with UAE Fire & Life Safety Code and international standards.

On-site inspections and client advisory are key aspects of the role. Minimum 6–8 years in structural engineering calculations and design reviews, with DM accreditation and English fluency.

Qualifications

• Dubai Municipality structural accreditation/license is required.
• Proficiency in ETABS for modelling and analysis is essential.
• Strong knowledge of SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD Pro and FEA tools.
• Experience in design review for reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete and steel structures.
• Knowledge of UAE Fire & Life Safety Code and international standards.
• Excellent English written and spoken communication.

Job description

The Structural & Calculation Engineer is responsible for carrying out comprehensive technical control, design reviews, and structural calculation verifications for major building and infrastructure projects in Dubai, including railway projects. The role ensures full compliance of structural designs, including reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, steel structures, roofing, and specialty enclosures, with Dubai Municipality regulations, the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice, and international engineering standards.

Acting as a key technical expert for Apave UAE on major, high-profile projects, the position ensures structural integrity, stability, fire resistance compliance, and the safety of people and property, while fostering client confidence and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Perform rigorous third-party design reviews and independent structural calculations for complex high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, and specialized roof/covering structures.
• Review and validate finite element analysis (FEA) structural models created using ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, and STAAD Pro.
• Verify structural stability, gravity and lateral load resistance (seismic and wind design), foundation capacity, and structural integrity of main frames and roof systems.
• Review calculations for structural fire resistance and structural fire safety in alignment with the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice and international standards.

Technical Control & Local Authority Approvals

• Act as the registered Dubai Municipality (DM) Approved Structural Engineer representative for technical control and design verification.
• Review technical submittals, structural shop drawings, methodology statements, and calculation notes submitted by lead consultants and EPC contractors.
• Issue formal technical review reports, non-conformity notices, and compliance certificates in accordance with Apave standards and local statutory requirements.

On-Site Technical Assistance & Supervision

• Conduct critical structural site inspections, audit structural installations, and verify site execution against approved calculation models and roof/envelope details.
• Inspect structural steelwork, roof trusses, long-span concrete frames, post-tensioning works, and fire-rated structural coatings/encasements.

Client Advisory & Technical Support

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to client developers and contractors to resolve complex structural engineering queries and design conflicts.
• Contribute to technical-commercial proposals for civil and structural control services in the region.

Desired Experience

• Minimum 6–8 years of experience in structural engineering calculations, structural design review, and technical control for major building projects, including complex roof structures and high-rise developments.

Technical Skills

• Dubai Municipality (DM) Structural Engineer Accreditation/License (G+Unlimited or relevant active registration) is strictly required.
• Proficiency in ETABS for structural analysis and building modelling is essential.
• Strong command of structural calculation and analysis tools such as SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, and other structural FEA software.
• In-depth expertise in design review methodologies for building structures, including reinforced concrete, post-tensioned concrete, structural steel, and complex roof structures/cladding supports.
• Knowledge of structural fire safety and fire resistance integration in accordance with the UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, NFPA, Eurocodes, or BS standards.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international design codes, including ACI, AISC, Eurocodes, and BS, as well as local UAE building codes and DM standards.
• High proficiency in spoken and written English, including technical drafting and client presentations.
