Job summary

Gulf Careers in Dubai seeks an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead on-site teams, ensure compliance with drawings, specs, quality and safety standards on high-rise and hotel projects.

The role requires 13+ years in structural engineering, consultancy or PMC environments, strong leadership and communication skills, and proficiency in structural software. PE registration is advantageous, and the position is full-time and on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 13 years of relevant professional experience in structural engineering, including construction supervision of high-rise towers, hotel developments, and large-scale building projects.
• Experience in engineering consultancy, construction supervision, or PMC environments.
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, construction practices, building systems, and codes/standards.
• Proven ability to review designs, shop drawings, and contractor submittals.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Proficiency in structural engineering software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Professional Engineer registration or equivalent is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the on-site structural engineering team to ensure compliance with drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Manage daily structural supervision activities and coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to achieve milestones.
• Conduct inspections of foundations, columns, beams, slabs, walls, and other components to verify design and regulatory compliance.
• Review construction methodologies, temporary works, and installations for safe, efficient execution.
• Maintain QA/QC procedures for materials and workmanship to ensure structural integrity and minimize defects.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, method statements, and structural calculations.
• Provide technical guidance to resolve construction-related structural issues as needed.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineer, Project Managers, Architects, and MEP Engineers for seamless integration.
• Facilitate communication among stakeholders and provide timely resolutions to site-related concerns.
• Monitor contractor performance and adherence to schedules, quality standards, and contracts.
• Contribute to monthly progress reports with technical input as directed by the Resident Engineer.
• Maintain accurate site records and project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with local codes, international standards, and health/safety regulations.
• Participate in site meetings and technical coordination reviews.

Job Details

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the on-site structural engineering team to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Manage daily structural supervision activities and coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to achieve project milestones and construction objectives.
• Conduct regular inspections of structural elements, including foundations, retaining structures, columns, beams, slabs, walls, and other structural components to verify compliance with design and regulatory requirements.
• Review and monitor construction methodologies, temporary works, and structural installations to ensure safe and efficient execution.
• Implement and maintain quality assurance and quality control procedures for structural materials and workmanship, ensuring structural integrity and minimizing defects.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, inspection requests, and structural calculations submitted by contractors.
• Perform additional structural assessments and calculations when required and provide technical guidance to resolve construction-related structural issues.
• Coordinate closely with the Resident Engineer, Project Managers, Architects, MEP Engineers, and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of structural works within the overall project.
• Facilitate effective communication between project stakeholders and provide timely resolutions to technical and site-related structural concerns.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and contractual obligations.
• Contribute to monthly progress reports and provide technical input as directed by the Resident Engineer.
• Maintain accurate site records, including inspection reports, daily site reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), corrective action reports, and other project documentation.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes, international standards, health and safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
• Participate in site meetings, technical reviews, and project coordination meetings as required.
