Job summary

ALTEN India seeks an experienced Offshore Structural Engineer to design, analyze and deliver offshore structural solutions for oil, gas, energy and marine projects. Lead technical activities, mentor junior engineers and manage key deliverables for jacket, topside and module structures.

Job description

Responsible for the design, analysis, and delivery of offshore structural engineering solutions for oil & gas, energy, and marine infrastructure projects. The role involves structural analysis, detailed engineering, multidisciplinary coordination, and ensuring safe, compliant, and constructible designs for offshore facilities. Senior-level engineers will lead technical activities, mentor team members, and manage key engineering deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform and/or lead structural design and analysis for offshore structures including jackets, topsides, modules, bridges, risers, foundations, and associated steel structures.
• Develop structural calculations, engineering reports, design deliverables, and technical documentation.
• Review project specifications, design basis documents, industry standards, and client requirements.
• Conduct structural analyses using relevant engineering software and design tools.
• Review and verify calculations, drawings, 3D models, and engineering deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including piping, mechanical, marine, process, electrical, instrumentation, and drafting disciplines to resolve interface issues.
• Support constructability assessments, installation studies, transportation analyses, and brownfield modification projects.
• Participate in model reviews, HAZID/HAZOP workshops, and technical review meetings as required.
• Review vendor documentation and ensure integration of vendor data into project deliverables.
• Address technical queries, support engineering change management, and implement design updates.
• Ensure compliance with applicable offshore codes, standards, company procedures, and HSE requirements.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers (Senior Engineer level).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• Master's Degree is an added advantage.

Experience

• Offshore Structural Engineer: Typically 8+ years of experience in offshore structural engineering, marine structures, or related projects.
• Senior Offshore Structural Engineer: Typically 13+ years of experience with proven expertise in leading offshore structural design and analysis activities.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of offshore structural design principles and engineering practices.
• Experience in the design and analysis of offshore platforms, jackets, topsides, modules, and related structures.
• Familiarity with international design codes and standards such as API, ISO, DNV, AISC, and Eurocodes.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software is preferred.
• Understanding of fabrication, installation, transportation, and constructability considerations for offshore facilities.
• Experience with brownfield modifications and structural integrity assessments is an advantage.
