Structural Engineer

Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:

• Operate in alignment with all health and safety requirements
• Promote Mott MacDonald to existing and prospective clients
• Conduct and assist in the structural analysis of technical information for engineering projects
• Produce complete structural designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and risk assessments of various structural elements including lateral analysis of engineering projects for concrete and structural steel materials under the guidance of a senior engineer.
• Work with a team of architects and design engineers of all disciplines under the supervision of senior engineers, team leaders, project managers and project directors.
• Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, etc. in relation to project objectives and targets, technical issues and problem resolution
• Provide structural engineering for the preparation of concept, scheme, and detailed design calculations, efficient technical reports, structural drawing markups and drawings for structural and multi-discipline projects to meet client requirements and authority submissions.
• Maintain ownership of the structural engineering analysis and design.
• Carry out coordination with all disciplines.
• Supervise BIM technicians and check structural CAD/BIM drawings and documentation.
• Inspect works carried out on site and monitor quality and compliance with design drawings.
• Be accountable for the timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings
• Ensure all design work is carried out in accordance with the Company’s quality standard procedures
• Provide effective task and resource management and monitor against agreed scope, programme and budget
• Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of the project delivery
• Present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical team members/stakeholders
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and take a role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
• Strive towards attaining relevant professional accreditation

Candidate Specification:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; chartered status will have an added advantage
• Experience working in an international design consultancy
• Prior experience in engineering design primarily in building structures and in roles of increasing responsibility and project complexity
• Demonstrable record of successfully designing and delivering building structures projects
• Experienced in using analytical/design software such as Robot, Revit, Etabs, Staad, CSC, RAM, Tedds, Prokon, Safe.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal for both internal and client relations.
• Previous experience with the UAE Building Industry. Design experience in the Abu Dhabi region is an advantage.
