Overview
Position: Offshore Structural Engineer
Location: Sharjah, Office - UAE
Duration: 6 Months - Extendable
Salary: TBD
Rotation: Applicable if the contract extends to 1 year
Mission
Carry out design and calculation activities for the project as outlined below, carrying out MTO estimates, procurement support activities, fabrication and construction requirements in compliance with project specifications budgeted manhours and schedules.
Responsibilities
- Design and Analysis: Develop and check detailed structural designs, calculations, and drawings for various components of offshore platforms, including topsides, jackets, Bridge and Flare structures. Utilize software tools such as SACS, or similar for structural analysis considering environmental loads, Thermal, seismic factors, and dynamic effects.
- Pre-Service Analysis – Perform and check Lifting, Transportation, Loadout, On-bottom analysis, Upending
- In-Service Analysis – Perform and check Global In-place, Fatigue, Seismic, Pushover, Boat landing design and impact analysis, Bridge Jacking analysis, CP Design & WCR
- Miscellaneous Design – Joints/Node, stabbing guide, Equipment support, PSI preparation, VIV check, wave slamming check, grout check etc.
- Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure structural designs are aligned with project requirements, safety standards, and client expectations.
- Compliance and Standards: Interpret and apply project specifications, client requirements, and relevant codes and standards (e.g., API RP 2A, AISC, Eurocodes) to ensure compliance throughout the design and execution phases.
- Participate in 3D Model review, design reviews, constructability/Installation workshops and interdisciplinary meetings to coordinate structural design activities with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
- Documentation: Prepare technical specifications, reports, and documentation related to structural materials, construction methods, and quality assurance
- Determine methods and solutions for engineering problems in tandem with the technical specialist and select the most efficient and economical manners in meeting objectives.
- Supervise and provide guidance in the development of plot plans, engineering drawings and technical documents issued for IDC’s and the integration of other engineering discipline data inputs. Supervise the review of design calculations.
- Prepares BOQ in the COMPANY provided format, Direct and monitor Material Take off (MTO) activities.
- Review and support Fabrication and Construction/Installation teams as required.
- Administer the preparation of Purchase Requisitions for the procurement of Structural items.
- Review and ensure Project structural design basis, specifications, calculation methods are aligned with Client’s requirements.
Qualifications
- Offshore Structural Engineer with minimum 10 years’ experience preferably from Consultancy or EPC organizations
- EPC Experience in ADNOC Offshore Jobs for Jacket/Topside/Bridges/Flare Tower Design - Compulsory
- Hands-on experience in performing Jacket In-place & Fatigue Analyses
- Experience in Fatigue Analysis (Spectral/Transportation/Wind) of Jacket & Flare/Bridge structure is preferred
- EPC Experience in Offshore Jobs – Minimum 2 Projects with one project as Area Lead for Topside / Jacket
- Familiar with SACS, minimum 05 years of working experience with the software
- Knowledge in API/AISC Codes - Compulsory.
- Conversant with DNV, ISO, DIN standards
- Knowledge and experience about PSI file preparation and analysis.
