Structural Design Engineer

The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and evaluating structural systems for buildings and infrastructure projects in compliance with local codes and safety standards. This role plays a key part in ensuring structural integrity, durability, and efficiency through innovative engineering solutions. Working in coordination with architects, project managers, and contractors, the engineer contributes to the successful delivery of projects across the UAE's fast-evolving construction landscape.

Responsibilities:

1. Developing structural designs and detailed calculations for buildings, foundations, and infrastructure projects.
2. Preparing structural drawings, specifications, and reports in compliance with UAE and international codes.
3. Collaborating with architects and other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of design elements.
4. Conducting load analysis and structural simulations using software tools to assess performance under various conditions.
5. Reviewing contractor submittals, shop drawings, and material approvals for design compliance.
6. Performing site inspections and providing technical support during construction to address any structural issues.
7. Ensuring that all designs meet sustainability, safety, and regulatory requirements in the UAE.
8. Participating in design reviews and coordination meetings to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
9. Supporting value engineering and cost optimization efforts without compromising structural performance.
10. Keeping up to date with the latest industry standards, technologies, and best practices in structural engineering.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; a Master's degree is an advantage.
2. 4-6 years of experience in structural design engineering, preferably within the UAE construction sector.
3. Proficiency in structural design software.
4. Sound knowledge of UAE building codes, international design standards (ACI, BS, Eurocode), and local authority regulations.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
6. Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary project teams.
7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with fluency in English; Arabic is a plus.
8. Valid UAE Society of Engineers membership or eligible for registration.
9. Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple projects concurrently.
