Job Purpose: Employee performs highly skilled maintenance installation repair and troubleshooting work involved with Electrical Systems. Work involves technical application of electrical principles.
Key Responsibilities:
Repair and maintenance work in a wide range of electrical equipment.
Installs services and repairs lighting fixtures electrical panels outlets and wirings.
Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
Installs repairs services specialized electrical equipment and machinery.
Constructs and maintains service equipment.
Read electrical circuit diagrams.
Requisitions materials and supplies from stockroom; calls vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies and recommends purchases and suppliers.
Transfers primary power from one power source to another.
Sets poles strings overhead lines and does overhead line maintenance.
May do other trades work incidental to electrical work.
Maintains essential stock of spare parts.
Responding promptly and efficiently to emergency calls.
Assist with all emergency services e.g. Fire Alarms Lighting Batteries and Standby Power requirements inclusive of generators and Fire Fighting System.

Qualifications:
Appropriate electrical technical qualifications
Proven experience as an electrician
Solid understanding of electrical systems in commercial and industrial buildings
Ability to handle electrical tools and equipment
Diploma from a trade school or successful completion of apprenticeship
Other Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of the occupation hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance of assigned duties
Scope and Limits of Authority:
SCOPE
Can work independently on a wide range of electrical tasks including installation maintenance and repair of electrical systems. They can also supervise apprentices.
LIMIT
May not be authorized to design electrical systems or take on large-scale projects without the oversight of a master electrician.
