Job description

We are seeking an experienced Static Mechanical Engineer to join our team supporting the design of a large-scale onshore oil and gas project in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the engineering sector with a particular focus on static mechanical design, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, and other static equipment. The candidate should have a solid background in detailed engineering, working to ensure that static mechanical systems meet the project's technical and safety standards.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the design and engineering of static mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, and other critical infrastructure for oil and gas facilities.
  2. Develop and review detailed engineering deliverables, including drawings, datasheets, calculations, and specifications for static mechanical systems.
  3. Perform mechanical design calculations (e.g., stress analysis, material selection, pressure design) to ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ASME VIII, ASME B31.3).
  4. Review and approve vendor documentation for static equipment, ensuring it aligns with project requirements and industry standards.
  5. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure the integration and proper functioning of static mechanical systems within the overall project.
  6. Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and startup phases of the project, ensuring smooth installation and operation of static equipment.
  7. Participate in hazard analysis and risk assessments related to the design, fabrication, and operation of static equipment.
  8. Review and optimize static equipment designs for operational efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  9. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring the effective completion of tasks and adherence to engineering standards.
  10. Ensure all designs comply with local regulations and international industry codes (API, ASME, ISO).
  11. Support the preparation of procurement documents, ensuring equipment specifications are clear and meet project requirements.
  12. Review and monitor quality control processes during fabrication and installation of static equipment.
  13. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to static mechanical systems during the project lifecycle.
Key Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  2. Upto 10-15 years of experience in static mechanical engineering within the oil and gas industry, particularly in onshore projects.
  3. Extensive experience in detailed engineering design for static mechanical systems, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and piping.
  4. Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ASME, API, and ISO related to static mechanical equipment.
  5. Proficient in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, CAESAR II, or similar tools.
  6. Hands-on experience with design calculations and stress analysis for static equipment.
  7. Strong understanding of material selection, corrosion protection, and fabrication techniques for static mechanical systems.
  8. Ability to lead and manage technical teams, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to schedules.
  9. Fluent in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  10. Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  11. Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality, accurate engineering work.
  12. Excellent communication skills, both technical and interpersonal.
  13. Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate across different functions.
  14. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.
  15. Experience working in the Middle East, particularly in onshore oil and gas projects, is highly desirable.
