Job description

We are seeking an experienced Static Mechanical Engineer to join our team supporting the design of a large-scale onshore oil and gas project in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the engineering sector, with a focus on static mechanical design including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, and other static equipment. The candidate should have a solid background in detailed engineering, ensuring that static mechanical systems meet the project's technical and safety standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the design and engineering of static mechanical equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping, and other critical infrastructure for oil and gas facilities.
  • Develop and review detailed engineering deliverables, including drawings, datasheets, calculations, and specifications for static mechanical systems.
  • Perform mechanical design calculations (e.g., stress analysis, material selection, pressure design) to ensure compliance with relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ASME VIII, ASME B31.3).
  • Review and approve vendor documentation for static equipment, ensuring it aligns with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (civil, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure proper integration of static mechanical systems within the overall project.
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and startup phases, ensuring the proper installation and operation of static equipment.
  • Participate in hazard analysis and risk assessments related to the design, fabrication, and operation of static equipment.
  • Review and optimize static equipment designs for operational efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, ensuring effective completion of tasks and adherence to standards.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local regulations and international industry codes (API, ASME, ISO).
  • Assist in preparing procurement documents, ensuring equipment specifications are clear and meet project requirements.
  • Review and monitor quality control processes during fabrication and installation of static equipment.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to static mechanical systems during the project lifecycle.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Up to 10-15 years of experience in static mechanical engineering within the oil and gas industry, particularly in onshore projects.
  • Extensive experience in detailed engineering design for static mechanical systems, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, and piping.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ASME, API, and ISO related to static mechanical equipment.
  • Proficient in mechanical design software such as AutoCAD, CAESAR II, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with design calculations and stress analysis for static equipment.
  • Strong understanding of material selection, corrosion protection, and fabrication techniques for static mechanical systems.
  • Ability to lead and manage technical teams, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to schedules.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality, accurate engineering work.
  • Excellent technical and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate across functions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight project deadlines.
  • Experience working in the Middle East, particularly in onshore oil and gas projects, is highly desirable.
