Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Staff Nurse is accountable for the coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The Staff Nurse supports professional nursing practice across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family. The Staff Nurse will understand, support, and promote the mission, vision, and values of SSMC; provides age-appropriate patient care according to the Nursing Scope of Practice as defined by the regulatory body. The Staff Nurse will adhere to and promote the Professional Nurses Code of Conduct for Abu Dhabi and UAE.

Responsibilities
  1. Assessment and Diagnosis: Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis/issues. Assesses comprehensive data including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs. Uses evidence-based assessment techniques. Documents data in compliance with guidelines.
  2. Planning and Outcomes Identification: Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan addressing health promotion, restoration, and maintenance. Involves patient, family, and healthcare team. Modifies plan based on ongoing assessment. Documents measurable goals.
  3. Implementation and Coordination of Care Delivery: Implements the care plan in partnership with the patient and team. Performs treatments and procedures. Administers medications. Ensures documentation and effective communication. Demonstrates resource management.
  4. Health Teaching and Promotion: Uses appropriate teaching strategies. Supports self-management and health promotion. Evaluates effectiveness of teaching. Documents education provided.
  5. Evaluation: Evaluates progress towards outcomes. Revises care plan as needed. Communicates updates. Ensures patient safety through proper handover and communication.
  6. Accountabilities: Maintains professional ethics, advocates for patients, questions practices for safety, and reports illegal or unsafe practices.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience post-qualification in an appropriate setting (waived for UAE nursing college graduates after internship).
  • Bachelor degree in nursing or a Degree in Nursing (minimum 2-year course) with registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, or Australia, and a valid license.
