Position Summary

To assess patient needs, plan, implement, and evaluate the plan of patient care. Direct junior and auxiliary team members. Provide safe, quality, ethical nursing care in accordance with hospital, international, and federal standards and regulations.

Main Duties

• Actively participate in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of University Hospital Sharjah (UHS).
• Comply with all UHS policies, procedures, and fire regulations.
• Participate in all aspects of the International Accreditation program to assist UHS in attaining and maintaining international accreditation standards.
• Perform nursing practice in line with facility, MOH, JCI, and FDON policies, procedures, and standards.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care of each patient, considering individual abilities, culture, and rights.
• Prioritize patients’ needs and delegate nursing care within scope of practice.
• Perform nursing care aligned with treatment and care plans, supported by current best practices.
• Assist physicians with examinations and procedures.
• Document nursing care from admission to discharge according to policies.
• Provide patient and family health education based on individual care plans.
• Ensure a safe environment by adhering to infection control and safety policies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and advocate for patients to ensure quality care.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to medication safety policies, including narcotics.
• Monitor patient condition and report changes.
• Maintain patient privacy and comfort.
• Ensure equipment is maintained and report damages.
• Participate in quality improvement, training, and safety initiatives.
• Report incidents and complete necessary documentation.
• Manage unit stock and ensure medication expiry compliance.
• Maintain confidentiality at all times.
• Attend mandatory training and stay updated professionally.
• Perform other duties within scope as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited Nursing school with BSc or Diploma (minimum 3 years study).
• At least 2 years post-graduation experience, with 1 year in current specialty.
• BLS certification.

Desirable Qualifications

• Advanced Life Support certification.

Licenses/Registration

• Current license in country of origin.
• UAE Ministry of Health License.

Within three months of employment: BLS certificate.

Additional Skills and Abilities

• 2 years post-graduate experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.

Preferred Experience

• Previous UAE experience.
• Experience in commissioning environments.
• Experience in internationally accredited hospitals (JCIA).
• Participation in preceptor/education programs.

Other Skills

• Knowledge of evidence-based nursing practices.
• Proven ability to collaborate and work in a multicultural environment.
• Basic data management and analytical skills.
