Job summary

SEHA - Abu Dhabi Health Services Co. seeks an ICU Staff Nurse to monitor and manage critically ill patients, including mechanical ventilation, vasopressor and dialysis therapies, and post-operative care.

The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and adherence to infection control standards. The nurse will perform continuous assessments, respond to emergencies, and document care plans while maintaining patient safety and high professional standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Associate degree with relevant licensing considerations.
• DOH License or Eligibility.
• Minimum two years clinical experience post qualification.
• Successful completion of national licensing exams (NCLEX-RN for USA, licensing exam for Canada).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and life-support interventions.
• Perform continuous assessment of patient condition and initiate interventions.
• Participate in emergency situations including cardiac arrest and rapid response.
• Follow ICU protocols, infection control standards and care plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to implement care plans.
• Document accurately and maintain safety and quality standards.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care per policy and unit scope.
• Navigate documentation correctly per Healthcare Facility policies.
• Utilize early warning scores to identify deterioration and escalate as per SEHA policy.

The position requires proficient use of specialized medical equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, feeding tubes, catheters, and central lines, to ensure patient safety and optimal clinical outcomes.

Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the ICU Staff Nurse plays a critical role in emergency response, patient stabilization, and ongoing critical care management while maintaining the highest standards of professional practice and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients requiring intensive monitoring and life‑support interventions.
• Perform continuous assessment of patient condition, recognizing early signs of deterioration and initiating appropriate interventions.
• Actively participate in emergency situations including cardiac arrest, rapid response calls, and patient resuscitation.
• Follow ICU protocols, clinical pathways, and infection control standards.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary medical team to implement care plans.
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the organization’s policy and procedures and the unit scope of service.
• Demonstrates knowledge in and compliance with the completion of documentation in an appropriate timeframe according to Healthcare Facility (HCF) policies and guidelines
• Demonstrates ability to navigate Malaffi accurately and efficiently.
• Uses the individualized, integrated plan of care to guide and prioritize care throughout the episode incorporating discharge planning and setting measurable goals daily which are transparent to the patient.
• Assumes accountability and responsibility for own practice and does not carry out tasks beyond level of competence.
• Utilizes evidence-based practice in the provision of care
• Identifies significant changes in patient condition, initiates appropriate action and reports to immediate supervisor or physician as appropriate.
• Utilizes early warning scoring tools where appropriate to identify deterioration in a timely fashion and escalates care appropriately as per SEHA policy.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Nursing; or
• Associate degree in Nursing from Canada or USA with minimum two (2) years course duration and Successful completion of the National exam: USA: NCLEX - RN Canada: Licensing Exam
