Job Description

Job Overview:

The Sr. MEP Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing cost estimations, preparing Bill of Quantities (BOQs), and monitoring project budgets for MEP works throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves collaborating with consultants, project and procurement teams to ensure accurate cost control, efficient tender processes, and compliance with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Estimation and Quantity Take-Off

  • Prepare preliminary, budget, and detailed cost estimates for MEP works, covering materials, labor, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Verify and analyze quantities in tender BOQs against drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with project requirements.

Tender and Bid Preparation

  • Review tender documents, prepare technical and commercial bids, and submit proposals within deadlines.
  • Evaluate subcontractor quotations to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Prepare technical queries for consultant clarifications and respond to Post-Tender Clarifications (PTCs) as required.

Procurement and Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate with procurement and project teams to provide accurate scope of work details, ensure smooth project execution, and review subcontractor evaluations.
  • Manage inquiries and quotations to ensure competitive pricing for materials and subcontractor services.

Variation and Cost Control

  • Quantify, price, and finalize variation claims based on revised drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain backup documentation for variation substantiation and assist project teams with Variation Order (VO) finalization.
  • Monitor project cost reports, budgets, and forecasts to ensure adherence to financial targets.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Prepare BOQs, tender evaluation reports, and cost comparison sheets for decision-making.
  • Maintain records of all financial and contractual documentation, ensuring proper alignment with project specifications.

Negotiation and Strategy

  • Conduct negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Identify cost or pricing data during negotiations and incorporate insights to optimize project outcomes.

Risk and Compliance Management

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with procurement, variations, and project execution.
  • Ensure all tender and contract documentation adheres to Palace Group policies, regulatory requirements, and project-specific standards.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in MEP quantity surveying or cost estimation within the construction industry especially for high end luxury villas.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of MEP systems, materials and cost structures.
  • Proficiency in tendering, BOQ preparation, and cost estimation tools.
  • Advanced skills in project budgeting, cost forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and relevant estimation software.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
