Role Summary

The Sports Performance Analyst is responsible for capturing, analysing, and presenting performance data to support athlete development, wellbeing, and long‑term progression. Working closely with the Mustang High Performance Team, the role integrates biometric data, video analysis, and digital dashboards to inform coaching decisions, intervention planning, and individual athlete pathways. The position also contributes to innovation through the use of emerging technologies and AI‑driven tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Performance Data and Analysis
  • Oversee the collection, management, and interpretation of biometric, physiological, and performance data for high‑performance athletes.
  • Analyse training, testing, and competition data to identify trends, risks, and development opportunities.
  • Produce regular performance and wellbeing reports covering load, attendance, behaviour, and progression indicators.
• Video and Technical Analysis
  • Manage video capture and analysis from training sessions, fixtures, and performance testing.
  • Create technical and tactical breakdowns, highlight reels, and review content for individual athletes and teams.
  • Support athlete development through clear visual feedback aligned with coaching objectives.
• Systems, Dashboards and Innovation
  • Design and maintain custom performance dashboards using platforms such as PowerBI, TeamBuildr, and VALD.
  • Ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and relevance for coaches and leadership teams.
  • Explore and implement emerging performance technologies and AI‑based tools, including player tracking and automated tagging systems.
• Collaboration and Athlete Support
  • Work closely with coaches to build detailed athlete performance profiles.
  • Contribute to Individual Athlete Pathway reviews with comprehensive data‑led insights.
  • Support the creation of digital portfolios for athletes pursuing scholarships or external performance opportunities.
  • Communicate complex performance data clearly to athletes, parents, and staff.
• Compliance, Development and Network Contribution
  • Ensure all performance data systems comply with school data protection and safeguarding requirements.
  • Contribute to professional development initiatives across the GEMS Network as part of the Centre of Excellence for Sport Support whole‑school objectives.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required by the Director of Sport or High Performance Coordinator.

Ideal Profile

• Degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Postgraduate qualification desirable.
• Experience working in a school, academy, or professional sports environment in a performance analysis or data‑focused role.
• Strong proficiency with performance software such as HUDL and VALD and data visualisation tools such as PowerBI.
• Solid understanding of athlete monitoring systems, load management, and video tagging workflows.
• Ability to communicate technical insights clearly and effectively to a wide range of stakeholders.
• Strong interest in innovation, technology, and data‑led athlete development.
