Job summary

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Comply with the rules, regulations and procedures of practising the Profession as per his her grade and Specialty
  • Issue written instructions to technologists in relation to methods and means of execution and improvement of x‑ray examinations and all Imaging studies
  • Issue list of requirements for special investigations
  • Determine and organise all precautions for possible complications
  • Inspect x‑ray requests in respect to adequacy and coordinate with corresponding specialists with the aim of reducing unnecessary patient radiation
  • Design, on the basis of evaluation of staff performance and in connection with latest international standards, training and qualification plans of radiologists and technologists
  • Organise activities of keeping staff informed about latest developments of technique and technology (lectures, etc.)
  • Interpret all types of general radiological examinations
  • Interpret and perform those requiring fluoroscopy, special procedures, angiography, ultrasound, radioisotopes, CT and MRI scanning within the limits of his her training, experience and clinical privileges and with the approval of the Chief of Radiology
  • Work with technologists and, when appropriate, instruct them in specialised views and positioning of patients when unusual or difficult problems arise
  • Participate in the Quality Improvement Programme of the hospital to meet international standards
  • Continuously evaluate all imaging and radiographic equipment in respect to reliability of quality assurance and propose restructuring and development
  • Participate in committees for selection of new equipment
  • Undertake any diagnostic imaging procedure within the realms of his her experience and training in the sub‑specialist field
  • Provide written consultation reports for each study undertaken which will include main and differential diagnoses
  • Recommend any additional study as may be required
  • Be directly or indirectly responsible for the administration of any intravenous contrast media given within the service
  • Actively participate in quality assurance activities
  • Develop internal standards and policies of services provided within the department in conformity with the standards, policies, rules and regulations
  • Together with the department’s designated radiation safety officer shall ensure that all clinical practice relating to the use of ionising radiations for diagnostic and invasive procedures is in accord with local rules
  • Supervise the clinical output of the technologists within the computerised tomography and magnetic resonance imaging services
  • Provide on‑call emergency coverage
  • Perform other miscellaneous related duties as requested by the HOD
Qualifications
  • At least 3‑5 years’ post‑qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)
  • At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator
  • Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority
  • Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority

  • Active and valid life support certification (BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
