The Specialist Physician shares the same responsibilities as a Consultant Physician in delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered care. The post holder is expected to exemplify clinical excellence within the division and contribute to the supervision and training of junior medical staff.
Responsibilities
- Supports and adheres to all hospital departmental and divisional initiatives, policies, and procedures.
- Participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and utilization review processes.
- Assists Consultant staff in ensuring adequate medical coverage within the division.
- Attends divisional meetings as invited.
- Supports reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents.
- Assumes other administrative or clinical duties as requested by the Consultant Staff.
- Under supervision, diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the specialty.
- Assists in supervising junior medical staff and shares responsibility for patient care.
- Complies with hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, patient care, procedures, and follow-up practices.
- Leads ward rounds and reassesses patients regularly.
- Documents clinical information clearly and promptly.
- Reviews investigation results and modifies treatment accordingly.
- Liaises with other medical specialties and support services.
- Participates in multidisciplinary meetings for patient care planning.
- Prepares patients for procedures and obtains informed consent.
- Accepts referrals from various sources, including emergency and outpatient departments.
- Supports out-of-hours on-call coverage on a rotational basis.
- Communicates with patients and families in a timely manner.
- Maintains positive working relationships and promotes teamwork.
- Performs other clinical duties as assigned.
- Supports quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits.
- Encourages clinical research and publication.
- Supervises and mentors junior medical staff.
- Keeps abreast of current literature and technological advances.
- Complies with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains confidentiality and adheres to safety and infection control guidelines.
- Participates in emergency preparedness and ongoing skills development.
- Builds partnerships for integrated patient care.
- Supports the training and development of UAE national staff.
Qualifications
Experience :
- Tier 1 : No experience required post-board certification.
- Tier 2 : Minimum 2 years of clinical experience post-qualification in an internationally accredited institute.
- UAE Nationals : No experience required post-board certification.
- Enrolled in HAAD accredited residency programs : No experience required post-board certification.
- Tier 3 : Minimum 3 years of clinical experience as a Specialist post-qualification in an internationally accredited institute.
Educational Qualification :
- Qualifications from Tier 1, Tier 2, or Tier 3.
