Job summary

Role Overview

Specialist – Pediatric Neurology – Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Allocation Assist Middle East is hiring a dedicated specialist to diagnose and manage epilepsy and complex neurological conditions in infants, children, and adolescents, including developmental disorders, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disease, movement disorders, headaches, neurogenetic conditions and other complex conditions affecting the central and peripheral nervous systems. Strong expertise in pediatric neurological assessment, EEG and neuroimaging interpretation, long‑term treatment planning and multidisciplinary care is required.

The specialist will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care, collaborate with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, geneticists, rehabilitation physicians, psychologists, therapists, radiologists, nurses and other healthcare professionals, and ensure compassionate communication with children and families while adhering to DHA and international clinical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage neurological disorders affecting infants, children, and adolescents.
• Assess and treat epilepsy, seizures, and other paroxysmal neurological conditions.
• Manage developmental delay, intellectual disability, neurodevelopmental disorders, and developmental regression.
• Evaluate and treat cerebral palsy, spasticity, movement disorders, and coordination difficulties.
• Diagnose neuromuscular disorders affecting muscle strength, movement, breathing, and functional ability.
• Assess headaches, migraines, dizziness, weakness, sensory symptoms, and altered consciousness.
• Evaluate neurogenetic and inherited neurological conditions.
• Manage diseases affecting the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, muscles, and neuromuscular junction.
• Conduct comprehensive neurological examinations appropriate to the child’s age and developmental stage.
• Review antenatal, birth, developmental, medical, medication, and family histories.
• Assess cognition, speech, motor function, reflexes, coordination, gait, behaviour, and sensory responses.
• Develop individualized treatment and long‑term management plans.
• Prescribe and monitor antiepileptic medication and other neurological therapies.
• Review medication effectiveness, adherence, adverse effects, and potential interactions.
• Develop seizure action plans and emergency management guidance for families and schools.
• Request and interpret electroencephalogram findings.
• Review MRI and CT imaging of the brain and spinal cord.
• Interpret electromyography and nerve conduction study findings where applicable.
• Assess laboratory, metabolic, genetic, cerebrospinal fluid, and other diagnostic results.
• Coordinate advanced investigations when the diagnosis remains uncertain or complex.
• Manage acute neurological presentations in inpatient and emergency settings.
• Provide follow‑up care for chronic, progressive, or relapsing neurological conditions.
• Identify patients requiring hospital admission, urgent intervention, or higher‑level specialist referral.
• Collaborate with neurosurgeons regarding structural abnormalities and conditions requiring surgery.
• Work with rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to improve function.
• Coordinate care with psychologists and behavioural health professionals where neurological conditions affect learning, mood, or behaviour.
• Collaborate with geneticists for diagnosis, counselling, and family risk assessment.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings for complex pediatric neurological cases.
• Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and expected outcomes.
• Explain investigations and treatment plans using clear, age‑appropriate, and culturally sensitive communication.
• Support parents and caregivers with long‑term care, medication administration, safety precautions, and developmental planning.
• Maintain accurate consultation notes, diagnostic reports, prescriptions, referrals, and follow‑up documentation.
• Ensure records comply with DHA regulations, organisational policies, and professional standards.
• Follow patient safety, infection control, safeguarding, confidentiality, and ethical practice requirements.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement programmes, departmental meetings, and case reviews.
• Attend continuing medical education activities and maintain current knowledge of pediatric neurological practice.
• Contribute to clinical education and support junior physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
• Participate in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and on‑call services according to departmental requirements.

Ideal Profile

• MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution.
• Completion of an accredited residency programme in Pediatrics.
• Fellowship or recognised subspecialty training in Pediatric Neurology.
• Board certification or equivalent specialist qualification recognised for DHA licensing.
• DHA Eligibility Letter or active DHA licence as a Specialist Pediatric Neurologist.
• Minimum three to five years of post‑specialisation experience in Pediatric Neurology.
• Strong clinical expertise in epilepsy and complex seizure disorders.
• Experience managing cerebral palsy, developmental delay, neurogenetic disease, and neuromuscular disorders.
• Practical experience interpreting EEG, MRI, CT, and other neurological investigations.
• Previous employment within a tertiary care or internationally accredited hospital is preferred.
• Turkish Board Certification or specialist medical training from Turkey is advantageous.
• Turkish language proficiency is highly preferred.
• Strong diagnostic reasoning and evidence‑based clinical decision‑making ability.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and caregivers.
• Ability to discuss complex or sensitive diagnoses with clarity and compassion.
