Job Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients with kidney-related conditions, including history-taking, physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests.
- Diagnose and manage conditions such as acute kidney injury (AKI), chronic kidney disease (CKD), and glomerular diseases.
- Develop and implement treatment plans, including prescribing medications, recommending dietary modifications, and planning for renal replacement therapy (hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis).
- Manage patients undergoing dialysis, including monitoring treatment efficacy and adjusting protocols as necessary.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing kidney transplantation.
- Collaborate with other specialists and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Educate patients and their families about kidney diseases, treatment options, and lifestyle changes to manage their condition.
- Counsel patients on the importance of medication adherence, dietary restrictions, and regular follow-up care.
- Provide resources and support for patients facing long-term treatments such as dialysis or transplantation.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other specialists, to deliver patient-centered care.
- Participate in case discussions and team meetings to develop and adjust care plans.
- Communicate effectively with primary care physicians and other referring providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the nephrology department.
- Monitor patient outcomes and contribute to efforts aimed at improving the quality of care provided.
- Adhere to clinical guidelines and best practices in nephrology.
- Stay current with advancements in nephrology through continuous professional development and participation in relevant conferences and seminars.
- Stay informed about emerging trends and innovations in nephrology and incorporate evidence-based practices into clinical practice.
Education
MBBS or equivalent medical degree; specialization in Nephrology (MD/DNB or equivalent).
Experience
3-5 years of experience in nephrology, including residency and fellowship training.
Certification and Licensure
Valid DHA, DOH License.
