Job summary

NMC in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Dermatologist to deliver comprehensive clinical services in outpatient and inpatient settings, with admission privileges and on-call coverage. You will work within a dynamic dermatology department, upholding high standards of patient care and documentation.

The role emphasizes clinical governance, patient safety, and continuous professional development, with participation in hospital meetings and committees. UAE-recognized credentials required.

Qualifications

• At least 3-5 years post-qualification specialist experience.
• At least 1 year specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.
• Life-support certifications (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP).
• Membership or recognition by Royal College/Arab Board or equivalent UAE authority.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive professional and ethical clinical services to patients in outpatient and inpatient settings.
• Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality standards.
• Perform dermatologic procedures (e.g., PUVA, skin biopsy, cryosurgery, excisions) and provide on-call emergency coverage.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive professional and ethical quality clinical services to patients in an effective and efficient manner.


• Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.


• Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards.


• Maintain accurate medical records.


• Ensure excellence in medical practice is maintained by focusing on continuous professional development of self and others.


• Maintain integrity in professional services by executing clinical services in an ethical and responsible manner


• The Dermatologist’s responsibility is mainly in the outpatient department providing


• Consultation services to patients with skin diseases in the Clinic.


• He also provides consultation service to the inpatient services and has admission privileges to admit patients with skin diseases requiring inpatient care.


• To perform the professional duties of a Dermatologist:


• To perform his duties in the Dermatology outpatient Clinic evaluating patients with skin diseases on a daily basis.


• Provides consultation service to inpatients in dermatology.


• Admit to the hospital patients with skin diseases requiring inpatient services and assume their care.


• Provides on-call emergency coverage for dermatologic emergencies.


• Performs the dermatologic procedures e.g. PUVA therapy, skin biopsy, cryosurgery, electrocautery, chemical peeling, curettage, excision etc.


• Plans and maintains daily work schedules necessary for required performance of all Department functions, including leaves of absence, vacations, holiday and weekend schedules, and emergency on-call schedules after working hours.


• Participates in the monthly hospital meetings


• Participates in Committees as needed.

Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems

• Comply with reasonable OSH instructions, policies and safe working procedures


• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.


• Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures


• Not willfully or recklessly endanger anyone’s health and safety


• Assist with the preparation of risk assessments


• Report OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues


• Reduce, Reuse, Recycling of waste as much as possible


• Attend all OSH Trainings, awareness programs and mock drills.


• Participates in the OSHMS audits, inspections, ensuring standards are maintained

Prevention and Control of Infection (PCI)

• PCI is everyone’s responsibility. All staff are required to read and implement the NMC PCI Policy and Strategy in an effort to maintain the highest possible standards of cleanliness at all times, thus reducing the risk of infection in patients, staff and visitors.

The strictest hand hygiene, 5 moments of hand hygiene, bare below the elbows and environmental care, will be expected of all staff, including the post holder, at all times

Qualifications

• At least 3 - 5 years’ post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)


• At least 1 year Specialist level experience from a Tier 1 country as specified by the UAE healthcare regulator.


• Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.


• Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant UAE healthcare authority. Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)


• Eligibility for relevant healthcare authority registration e.g. Membership from Royal College / Arab Board Certification / MS / DM / MPhil or an equivalent recognised by relevant healthcare authority in UAE
