Job description

As a Special Needs Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring that students with disabilities have equitable access to academic and campus life. Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs, you will be responsible for developing and managing accommodations, training faculty and staff, advocating for policy development, and fostering a culture of inclusivity.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized accommodations.
  2. Serve as a primary contact and mentor for students with special needs.
  3. Collaborate with faculty to implement accommodations effectively.
  4. Review campus accessibility and recommend improvements.
  5. Develop awareness programs, workshops, and peer support groups.
  6. Maintain records, evaluate services, and produce performance reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, or equivalent.
  • Certifications in special needs or accessibility services.

Required Experience

  • 1-2 years of experience in special education or support roles.
  • Background in higher education or academic support services.
  • Familiarity with inclusive teaching practices.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and accessibility tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and empathy.
  • Passion for advocacy and equity in higher education.
