The Role
The Senior Officer, GIS Specialist (GIS and Cad) is integral to integrating high-quality spatial data and CAD support into the real estate development process. This role ensures precise GIS database management and CAD operations that comply with Abu Dhabi's DMT standards. By maintaining and enhancing spatial data, the GIS Specialist supports informed planning and design decisions across development projects, facilitating efficient project execution and strategic property management. GIS Specialist navigates the sophisticated landscape of geographic information systems (GIS), seamlessly integrating detailed spatial analysis into practical design and development applications. Tasked with the crucial responsibility of aligning precise geospatial data with strategic objectives, this role includes the following duties :
- Gathering geographic data from various sources such as satellite imagery, GPS devices, surveys, and government databases.
- Organizing and maintaining GIS databases, ensuring data integrity, and implementing data quality control measures.
- Creating and updating the land use plan and various GIS analysis.
- Setting up and managing the project geodatabase in the format agreed with the Client.
- Coordination with Client’s & Consultants GIS team.
- Validate data accuracy, completeness, and consistency through regular quality checks.
- Prepare maps, conduct spatial analysis and prepare reports as required.
- Review Masterplan GIS submissions from Consultants to ensure compliance with DMT Standards.
- Manage project specific satellite & aerial images and surveys.
- Analyzing spatial data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships using GIS software tools. This may involve creating maps, performing spatial analysis, and generating reports.
- Building and implementing spatial models to simulate real-world scenarios, such as land-use planning, environmental impact assessment, or transportation planning.
- Create maps, charts, and other visualizations to effectively communicate spatial data insights to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Geography, GIS, Urban Planning, or a related field, with a focus on geospatial technologies or related fields;
- Master\'s degree or MBA with a specialization in architecture, interior design, or related field is highly desirable;
- 6-8 years’ experience in GIS and spatial data management, with specific experience adhering to municipal and transport department standards;
- Previous GCC or UAE experience is essential.
- Strong Knowledge of DMT’s Spatial Data Submission Specification 6.5.
- Proficiency in relevant GIS and Spatial Data management software, such as ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, and other related geospatial analysis and visualization tools.
- Strong knowledge of CAD standards, practices, and drawing conventions.
- In-depth knowledge of Abu Dhabi Municipality and DMT's GIS and spatial data requirements and standards.
- Demonstrated experience in managing comprehensive land bank databases for real estate development purposes.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage large datasets and provide accurate spatial analysis.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with government entities, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to lead projects and initiatives related to spatial data, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget.
- Commitment to staying current with the latest geospatial technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices.
- Experience working with diverse and cross-functional teams and design disciplines, fostering effective collaboration and integration of various stakeholders.
