Job description

  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning and recipe creation.
  • Assist the Executive Chef in menu creation, ensuring seasonal ingredients and innovative dishes are prioritized.
  • Supervise kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting professional development through hands-on training.
  • Oversee food preparation and plating to maintain quality standards, ensuring every dish is visually appealing and flavorful.
  • Manage inventory and supplies, placing orders when necessary to prevent shortages and maintaining a well-organized kitchen.
  • Enforce food safety and hygiene standards, conducting regular checks and training staff on best practices.
  • Assist in cost control and budgeting by monitoring food waste and optimizing ingredient usage.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for kitchen tasks, enhancing efficiency in food preparation and service.
  • Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service flow and timely dish delivery during peak hours.
  • Handle customer feedback and complaints with professionalism, ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Supervise and train kitchen staff.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared and cooked to the highest standards.
  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
  • Assist in the ordering and receiving of food and supplies.
  • Monitor and control food costs and wastage.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of food for special events.
  • Support the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a high-paced kitchen environment, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
  • Experience in a supervisory role, proving capability in leading a diverse kitchen team effectively.
  • Proficiency in various cooking techniques and cuisines, enabling versatility in menu development.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices, ensuring compliance in all kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a high level of organization and time management skills.
  • Good communication skills in English, with additional language proficiency being a plus to cater to diverse clientele.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods, crucial for a demanding kitchen environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, fostering teamwork and a positive atmosphere among kitchen staff.
  • Proven experience as a Junior Sous Chef/ Head Chef /Sous Chef or similar role, preferably in a high-volume kitchen, or inflight catering.
  • Strong knowledge of international cuisines and dietary requirements.
  • Proficiency in kitchen management software and inventory systems.
