Job summary

Imperial College London Diabetes & Endocrine Centre (ICLDEC) is seeking a Radiography Technologist/Sonographer in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on diagnostic ultrasound across abdominal, vascular, musculoskeletal and other specialty scans, supporting clinical diagnosis with high-quality imaging.

The candidate will operate ultrasound equipment, ensure patient safety, collaborate with radiologists, and maintain accurate records in PACS/HIS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiography, Radiologic Technology or Medical/Diagnostic Imaging is required.
  • DOH Abu Dhabi license as Radiography Technologist/Sonographer is required.
  • BLS certification is required; ACLS/PALS may be required depending on specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations (abdominal, vascular, musculoskeletal, and other scans) to support diagnosis.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment ensuring image quality and patient safety.
  • Capture and identify imaging findings for physician interpretation.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians and provide preliminary observations.
  • Ensure patient preparation, explain procedures, and provide reassurance.
  • Monitor patient condition during examinations and respond to adverse reactions.
  • Maintain accurate records and update imaging data in PACS/HIS.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and DOH guidelines.
  • Contribute to quality improvement and continuous professional development.

The Radiography Technologist (Sonographer) is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations to support accurate clinical diagnosis and patient management. The role involves producing high-quality imaging, ensuring patient safety and comfort, and collaborating with physicians to deliver timely and effective care. The position plays a critical role in supporting specialized services at ICLDC, contributing to high standards of patient-centered care and clinical excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, vascular, musculoskeletal, and other specialty scans as required.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal image quality and patient safety.
  • Accurately capture diagnostic images and identify normal and abnormal findings for physician interpretation.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians by providing preliminary observations to support clinical diagnosis.
  • Ensure proper patient preparation, explain procedures clearly, and provide reassurance to enhance patient experience.
  • Monitor patient condition during examinations and respond appropriately to any adverse reactions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update imaging data in PACS and hospital information systems.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards to ensure a safe clinical environment.
  • Ensure compliance with DOH guidelines and departmental policies for imaging procedures.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and maintain continuous professional development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiography, Radiologic Technology, or Medical/Diagnostic Imaging is required.
  • Additional certification in Sonography or relevant specialty is preferred.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of post-qualification experience in sonography or diagnostic imaging.
  • Experience in an accredited healthcare facility (e.g., JCIA) preferred.
  • Valid DOH (Abu Dhabi) license as a Radiography Technologist / Sonographer.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Additional certifications (ACLS/PALS) may be required based on specialty.
