Job Overview:

The Sonographer will perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with established protocols and standards to support accurate diagnosis and patient care. She must be compassionate, patient-focused, and work collaboratively with the radiology and medical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

  • Perform a wide range of ultrasound examinations including abdomen, pelvis, obstetrics, gynecology, small parts, vascular, and musculoskeletal studies.
  • Ensure proper patient identification and explain procedures clearly to patients prior to the scan.
  • Accurately document and report findings to the radiologist or referring physician.
  • Ensure patient comfort and privacy throughout the imaging procedure.
  • Assist radiologists and physicians with interventional ultrasound-guided procedures when required.
  • Maintain infection control and patient safety standards during each procedure.

Administrative & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate patient records and input data into the PACS/RIS system.
  • Ensure that all procedures comply with MOH and hospital policies and regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain ultrasound equipment, including daily QC checks and reporting any malfunctions.
  • Comply with confidentiality standards and ensure accurate record keeping.

Communication & Teamwork:

  • Coordinate effectively with physicians, nurses, radiographers, and administrative staff.
  • Attend department meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide mentorship or training to junior staff when requested.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical setting performing a variety of ultrasound exams.
  • Valid MOH License (UAE) to practice as a Sonographer.
  • Fluency in English is essential; Arabic is an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary hospital environment preferred
