We are hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead Multipass, a workstation mini-cloud available on macOS, Windows, and Linux. Multipass allows users to launch VMs easily, providing a local cloud experience for development, testing, and deployment tasks.

As an engineering manager at Canonical, you should have a solid technical background and be capable of leading an effective team, developing colleagues, and driving important projects. You will lead, challenge, and develop engineers, influence company culture, facilitate technical delivery, and work on strategy and execution.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading successful engineering teams and solving challenging problems.

Location : This is a remote position available in EMEA and the Americas.

The role entails :

• Leading a team of remote engineers
• Developing talent through coaching, mentoring, and career development
• Managing expectations with other teams, management, and stakeholders
• Advocating modern software development practices
• Participating in code and architecture reviews
• Engaging with Canonical teams, the open source community, and partners
• Working from home with 4-6 weeks of travel annually for events
