Job summary

Khatib & Alami in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Site Inspector - Mechanical for Abu Dhabi Projects to supervise construction sites, verify adherence to drawings and specifications, and enforce quality, HSSE, and client requirements. In this role you will support Project Managers, review contractor submittals, monitor daily site activities with Planning Engineers, conduct inspections, and assist during commissioning, handover, and defect liability periods.

Bilingual communication is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Managers with client relations and expectations.
• Respond to client clarifications on technical and contractual issues.
• Ensure client satisfaction with construction supervision services.
• Review contractor’s work program during the pre-construction phase.
• Review contractors’ submittals including staff proposals, organization charts, shop drawings, method statements, project procedures, traffic management plans, etc.
• Maintain familiarity with construction drawings, specifications and standard details.
• Monitor contractor daily activities on site with Planning Engineers.
• Conduct inspections on construction works and highlight reasons for rejection.
• Conduct quality inspections with QA/QC Engineer and identify/raise issues.
• Monitor implementation of quality non-conformities action plans on sites.
• Support HSSE Engineers in enforcing HSSE procedures on sites.
• Support Materials Engineer to supervise testing of materials and samples.
• Review, assess and respond to contractor claims on scope, schedule and cost changes.
• Assist during hand-over and defects liability period.
• Prepare commissioning reports and conduct final inspections.
• Prepare snag lists and monitor rectification during Defects Liability Period.
• Provide input for Take-Over and Defect Liability Certificates.

Job Summary

The Site Inspector is a key member of the supervision services team. S/He works closely with supervision teams for the inspection of construction sites, including the inspection of construction works progress and the inspection and implementation of quality and HSSE policies, procedures and client requirements by contractors and subcontractors. The jobholder is expected to maintain strong familiarity of all construction drawings to ensure the adherence of contractors and subcontractors to approved drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities (Customer Focus)

• Support Project Managers with managing client relations and expectations, as needed
• Support Project Managers with responding to client clarifications on technical and contractual issues, as needed
• Ensure client satisfaction with construction supervision services

Key Responsibilities (Internal Business Process)

• Support supervision teams with the review of the contractor’s work program during the pre-construction phase, as needed
• Support supervision teams with the review of contractors’ submittals, including staffing proposals, organization charts, shop drawings, method statements, project procedures, traffic management plans, etc., as needed
• Maintain familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, standard details and all other information related to the standard workmanship and quality of works
• Closely work with Planning Engineers for monitoring contractors’ daily activities on site (e.g. concrete pouring, installations, etc.) and resource allocation against plans
• Conduct inspection on construction works according to Requests for Inspections submitted by contractors and highlight reasons for rejection of works, if any
• Conduct quality inspections on contractors and subcontractors with the QA / QC Engineer and identify and raise quality issues, as needed
• Monitor the implementation of quality non-conformities action plans on construction sites
• Support HSSE Engineers on enforcing and monitoring the implementation of HSSE procedures on construction sites and recording and raising HSSE non-conformities, as needed
• Support the Materials Engineer to supervise the testing of materials and checking of materials samples against specifications and standards, as needed
• Support project teams with the review, assessment and response to all claims raised by the contractor regarding scope, schedule and cost changes of projects, as needed
• Support the supervision team during the hand-over and defects liability period, as needed
• Support Site Engineers with the preparation of commissioning reports and with conducting final inspection of works
• Assist Site Engineers with the preparation of list of snags to the contractor and monitoring the contractors’ rectification of list of snags during the Defects Liability Period
• Provide input for the preparation and issuance of Take-Over Certificates and Defect Liability Certificates
• Provide input to Planning Engineers for the development of project progress reports, as needed
• Implement corporate policies and procedures

Qualification, Technical Skills and Competencies

Specific Experience Required to Execute this Role

• 5+ years of experience in the Architecture, Engineering and Planning Industry in a top tier regional / multinational consultancy firm, with expertise in construction site inspections
• Experience with site inspections on large supervision sites, including inspection of works progress, quality inspections and HSSE inspections
