A leading engineering consultancy in Dubai is seeking a Site Engineer - Vertical Transport to oversee the installation of elevators and escalators. Qualifications

Job Description

WSP in the Middle East are seeking a proactive and experienced Site Engineer - Vertical Transport to join our project delivery team in Dubai, UAE.

The ideal candidate will oversee the installation, coordination, and quality assurance of vertical transportation systems (elevators, escalators, and moving walkways) on-site, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the site execution of vertical transport systems as per project drawings and manufacturer specifications.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and other disciplines (civil, MEP, architectural) to ensure seamless integration.
  • Monitor installation progress, conduct inspections, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, and client representatives on technical issues and progress updates.
  • Review method statements, risk assessments, and ensure all safety protocols are followed during installation.
  • Assist in testing and commissioning of VT systems and ensure timely handover to the client.
  • Prepare daily site reports, monitor material deliveries, and track work schedules.
  • Address and resolve technical site issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience in vertical transport system installation (preferably in high-rise or large-scale projects).
  • Solid understanding of lift/escalator design, installation standards, and coordination.
  • Familiarity with major lift brands (e.g., Otis, KONE, Schindler, Mitsubishi, Thyssenkrupp) is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced construction environment.
