Job Purpose:
The Site Engineer – Plumbing and Drainage is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality, safety, and timely execution of all plumbing and drainage works on-site. This role involves coordination with consultants, subcontractors, and other site disciplines to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the installation, testing, and commissioning of all plumbing and drainage systems (potable water, soil and waste, rainwater, vent pipes, stormwater, etc.) as per project drawings and specifications.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and coordination drawings.
- Coordinate with consultants, main contractor, and subcontractors to ensure work execution aligns with approved shop drawings and method statements.
- Monitor daily site activities and ensure work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations, QA/QC standards, and project timelines.
- Prepare daily site progress reports and update project schedules in coordination with planning engineers.
- Conduct inspections and raise inspection requests (IRs) and material inspection requests (MIRs) for plumbing and drainage installations.
- Ensure compliance with local authority regulations and assist in obtaining necessary inspections and approvals (e.g., from municipality or utility providers).
- Assist in resolving technical issues, design conflicts, and site constraints.
- Verify material submittals, shop drawings, and as-built drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Support the procurement process by verifying quantities and technical specifications for plumbing-related materials and equipment.
Requirements:
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
- Certification in plumbing design or building services is a plus.
Experience:
- 4–8 years of relevant experience in plumbing and drainage site execution within the construction industry.
- Experience with high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, infrastructure, or hospitality projects preferred.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of plumbing and drainage systems, materials, and installation techniques.
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g., IPC, UPC, BS, ASHRAE).
- Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and schematics.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site activities simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD; knowledge of BIM/Revit is a plus.
