Job description

A Site Engineer plays a critical role in construction projects, ensuring accurate surveying, setting out levels, and overseeing technical and organizational aspects of site activities. This position requires applying designs and plans to mark out the site while ensuring compliance with specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.

As a Site Engineer, you will be responsible for technical supervision, project coordination, and on-site execution. You will oversee both above-ground and underground infrastructural installations while managing materials, human resources, and site security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main technical advisor on-site for subcontractors, craftspeople, and laborers.
  • Set out, level, and survey the site to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
  • Verify plans, drawings, and quantities for accuracy in calculations.
  • Ensure that all materials used and work performed comply with project specifications.
  • Oversee the selection, requisition, and cost-effective procurement of materials.
  • Manage, monitor, and interpret contract design documents provided by the client or architect.
  • Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors, and the general workforce.
  • Liaise with local authorities to ensure compliance with construction regulations and by-laws.
  • Communicate with clients and stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and surveyors, to provide project updates and attend regular progress meetings.
  • Supervise and monitor on-site labor, including subcontractors, to ensure smooth day-to-day site operations (if applicable to the project).
  • Plan and organize site resources, including plant and equipment, to meet project deadlines efficiently.
  • Ensure strict adherence to quality control and health & safety protocols on-site.
  • Prepare and submit reports as required to track project progress and address technical challenges
