Job summary

VELAGO GENERAL CONTRACTING LLC SPC is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to supervise installation of electrical systems on-site in the UAE. The candidate will ensure works follow drawings, specs, and local standards, coordinating with consultants and subcontractors.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in electrical engineering and 3–6 years of experience; UAE codes knowledge (DEWA/TAQA/ADDC/SEWA) is preferred. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized institution.
• 3 to 6 years of experience in electrical engineering.
• Strong understanding of electrical system requirements.
• Familiarity with UAE codes, DEWA, TAQA/ADDC, SEWA and international standards.
• Experience interpreting drawings, specs and installation details.

Responsibilities

• Supervise installation of electrical systems on-site including power distribution and lighting.
• Ensure works follow drawings, specs, and codes (NEC, NFPA, HTM).
• Conduct site inspections and verify progress and quality.
• Coordinate with consultants, main contractors, and subcontractors.
• Review shop drawings and material submittals for design intent.
• Monitor testing and commissioning and enforce safety QA/QC.
• Prepare daily/weekly site reports and report to project manager.
• Attend meetings and site walk-throughs with stakeholders.
• Support handover by completing punch lists and final testing.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations and environmental standards.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:

• Supervise and monitor the installation of electrical systems on-site, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, ELV, Low current and other specialized systems.
• Ensure electrical works are executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, HTM).
• Conduct site inspections and verify work progress and quality in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate with consultants, main contractors, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth site operations.
• Review and comment on shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals for compliance with design intent and project specifications.
• Monitor site testing and commissioning activities and ensure adherence to safety protocols and QA/QC procedures.
• Prepare daily/weekly site reports highlighting progress, issues, and potential delays, and report to the construction/project manager.
• Attend project meetings, site walk-throughs, and inspections with stakeholders and authorities as required.
• Support the handover process by ensuring punch lists and final testing/ commissioning activities are completed to standard.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local authority regulations, and environmental and safety standards.

Required qualifications and years of experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized institution.
• 3 to 6 years of experience in electrical engineering.
• Strong understanding of electrical system requirements.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical installation practices, materials, and testing procedure.
• Familiarity with local UAE codes, DEWA, TAQA/ADDC, SEWA and international standards.
• Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and installation details.
• Excellent communication and team coordination skills.
• Ability to manage site activities efficiently under pressure while ensuring quality and safety.
• Membership or certification with a recognized engineering body is preferred.
• Experience working under FIDIC contracts and in coordination with supervision consultants is a plus.
• UAE driving license is an advantage
