Job summary

Engineering Consortium Consulting Engineers is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector to oversee site electrical works. The role requires ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specs, and safety standards across diverse project types in Dubai.

Responsibilities include reviewing power distribution, lighting, earthing, and low-current systems, validating materials, and supervising installation quality. Strong coordination with disciplines and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8–10 years of site experience in construction supervision/inspection.
• Experience in residential, commercial, high-rise, hospitality, or villas projects preferred.
• Good knowledge of electrical construction, inspection, testing, and commissioning.
• Familiarity with IEC, BS, DEWA/local authority requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and method statements.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Previous experience with a consultant is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect electrical installations and monitor adherence to approved drawings, specs, and methods.
• Review electrical works including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, earthing, cable containment, low-current systems, and equipment installations.
• Verify materials delivered to site meet project specifications and approved submittals.
• Inspect installations before, during, and after execution for workmanship and quality.
• Review and witness IRs, testing and commissioning activities and ensure procedures are followed.
• Monitor contractor progress and ensure works align with the project schedule.
• Identify defective or non-compliant works and coordinate corrective actions with the contractor.
• Coordinate with civil, architectural, mechanical, and other disciplines to avoid clashes and ensure proper interfaces.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, observations, testing, and outstanding works.
• Follow up on snagging, de-snagging, and punch-list activities until completion.
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and report unsafe practices observed on site.
• Attend coordination meetings and provide technical input related to electrical works.
• Assist Senior Electrical Engineer/Resident Engineer in monitoring contractor performance and quality.
• Review as-built information to ensure proper documentation.
• Perform other duties related to electrical inspection and site supervision as assigned by management.

Job description

1. Inspect and monitor electrical installation works at site to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and applicable standards.

2. Review and inspect electrical works including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, earthing, cable containment, low-current systems, and equipment installations.

3. Verify that materials delivered to site are approved and comply with project specifications and approved material submittals.

4. Inspect installations before, during, and after execution and ensure proper workmanship and quality.

5. Review and witness relevant inspection requests (IRs), testing and commissioning activities, and ensure that works are completed as per approved procedures.

6. Monitor the contractor’s progress and ensure electrical works are executed according to the approved project schedule.

7. Identify defective or non-compliant works and issue/record observations and coordinate corrective actions with the contractor.

Desired Candidate Profile
