Job Purpose

Responsible for keeping the Fight Simulator Training Devices (FSTD) operational, reliable, and up to date, contributing to the quality of training delivered by the academy. Ensures all maintenance, troubleshoot and repairs are done in compliance with GCAA and company procedures and regulations.

Key Result Responsibilities

  • Executes the preparation of the FSTDs for instruction.
  • Carries out scheduled maintenance tasks as part of regulatory requirements.
  • Analyzes and investigates the day-to-day operational complaints raised by the users.
  • Executes the repairs and adjustments requested in consequence of operational complaints, discrepancies noticed during the accomplishment of the scheduled tasks, hold items, etc.
  • Communicates with the respective manager on issues that cannot be fixed locally.
  • Assists line manager in addressing defects and other concerns raised during initial investigations with the manufacturer.
  • Monitors and manages FSTD spare parts and resources.
  • Coordinates with the manufacturer and other vendors (if applicable), to arrange shipments of FSTD components.
  • Executes the defect rectification process and follows up as required during the process.

Key Result Responsibilities - Continued

  • Performs operational checks to verify the results of the rectification; Analyzes the results and if required, performs the equipment calibration with the help of the manufacturer or outsourced vendor/s.
  • Plans shipment/disposal of defective parts depending on the course of action agreed with the manufacturer.
  • Executes the configuration control of the device to ensure the continued integrity of the software and hardware qualified.
  • Runs, reviews, and approves objective flight tests as part of regulatory requirements.
  • Assists test pilots while performing subjective flight tests to monitor and record discrepancies in the presence of the respective manager.
  • Helps the appointed instructor in the execution of the functions and subjective tests.
  • Assists external users in device operation.
  • Maintains accurate records of all operational data and the maintenance executed in the adequate documents as directed by the company compliance process.
  • Collects feedback from the training department to improve operational performance and implements it where possible as part of continuous improvement.
  • Coordinates and assists the operations department in emergency situations to execute necessary scheduling changes.
  • Performs any additional duties as directed by the line manager.

Qualifications (Academic, Training, Languages)

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulations governing FSTD.
  • In-depth knowledge of the FSTD systems.
  • Knowledge of equipment calibration procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Inventory management skills.

Work Experience

2+ years of experience in a similar role, handling similar tasks. Experience in the aviation industry is preferred.
