Shipping Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Shipping Specialist to join our dynamic global shipping team. In this role, you will support our Shipping Department with the execution of voyage Charter Parties and COA shipments, ensuring smooth and compliant end-to-end shipping operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Operations and Chartering Managers in daily shipping tasks
  • Execute our voyage Charter Parties and follow up on COA shipments in line with agreements
  • Coordinate and follow up on the signing of Charter Parties and related documents
  • Conduct and review laytime calculations and ensure proper documentation
  • Track daily vessel status and update records, including ERP entries
  • Follow up on payment requests, approval processes, and internal documentation
  • Collect emission and environmental data as part of reporting requirements
  • Review trade contracts and provide input on shipping-related clauses
  • Communicate with Owners, Agents, our international offices and internal departments (Trading, Finance, Trade Operations)
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external shipping reports

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Business Administration, Shipping or a related field (GPA over 3.00/4.00 preferred)
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, including shipping terminology
  • Previous experience as a freight operator in dry bulk shipping operations or a similar role is preferred
  • Solid understanding of INCOTERMS, customs and maritime regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with ERP systems is a plus
  • Strong communication and coordination skills; a true team player
  • Self-motivated, reliable, able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong analytical thinking and a problem-solving mindset
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
