Job summary

BxT, a joint venture between TotalEnergies and Bapco Energies, is based in Dubai. We are seeking a Shipping Market Analyst to join the shipping and trading activity, supporting commercial and strategic decisions with high-quality analysis of oil shipping markets, tanker dynamics, and freight economics.

You will work with freight and trading desks, develop automated market intelligence tools using Python (Streamlit, Pandas, API integrations), and contribute to U-TRACK.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in economics, engineering or energy.
• Strong understanding of energy markets, trading and shipping.
• Excellent Python skills with experience in Streamlit, Pandas and APIs.

Responsibilities

• Analyze oil shipping markets, tanker dynamics and freight economics.
• Collect and structure real-time tanker market data and freight rates.
• Develop ad-hoc indicators and tools to track market trends.
• Build scenario-based models to interpret signals from energy markets.

• Produce regular and ad-hoc reports for the chartering team.

BxT is a joint venture between TotalEnergies and Bapco Energies, bringing together complementary market expertise, trading capabilities and regional presence.

Based in Dubai and reporting to the Product Charterer, the Shipping Market Analyst will join BxT's shipping and trading activities, supporting commercial and strategic decision-making through high-quality analysis of oil shipping markets, tanker dynamics and freight economics. The role will work closely with the freight and trading desks, as well as BxT teams in Geneva, contributing to key internal tools, publications and market intelligence.

This is a hands-on analytical position requiring a strong understanding of energy and shipping markets, the ability to turn complex and real-time data into actionable insights, and advanced Python capabilities to develop robust analytical tools. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of autonomy in a fast-paced, trading-oriented environment.

• Understand the drivers of oil shipping and freight markets, including refining and trade flows.
• Collect and structure real-time data on tanker markets and freight rates.

• Strong proficiency in Python programming, with experience developing and maintaining analytical solutions involving tools and libraries such as Streamlit, Pandas, API integrations, and automation. Familiarity with Databricks is an advantage.

• Comfortable working under pressure and with tight deadlines.
