Job summary

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting or Finance and significant experience in handling oil tanker transactions. Qualifications

Job description

Job Purpose:-

To ensure accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting related to shipping operations, including freight charges, shipping invoices and related expenses. The role supports operational efficiency by maintaining proper cost control, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and trade regulations, and facilitating smooth coordination between the finance, procurement, and logistics departments.

• Record financial transactions related to shipping operations accurately and promptly
• Allocate and record shipping costs accurately in the general ledger.
• Monitor variances between estimated and actual shipping costs, and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all financial activities
• Assist with monthly closing processes, including bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations
• Coordinate with agents, suppliers and service providers to collect invoices, upload them to the E-Invoicing portal, track approvals, and send approved payment instructions to the treasury; share SWIFT confirmations with vendors
• Ensure that shipping cost data is accurately maintained in the ERP or accounting system.
• Support system upgrades or process improvements related to shipping account
• Provide support to the Finance Manager on ad hoc tasks and assist during external audits

Qualifications & Background:-

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience specifically handling accounting of oil tanker shipping transactions
• Experience working on Microsoft Dynamics/SAP system. Working on IMOS system is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools
