Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Ship Broker to join their team in Dubai. The company focuses on dry bulk shipping—general and bulk cargo. Candidates with strong knowledge of dry bulk chartering and established networks in Middle East regional ports and trade routes will be well-suited for this role.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of international and regional shipping markets, vessel performance, and industry trends. Provide valuable insights and forecasts to support strategic planning and informed decision-making.
  • Proactively identify, build, and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, charterers, cargo owners, and other key industry players. Drive business development by expanding networks and securing long-term partnerships.
  • Coordinate negotiations between all parties to ensure successful deal closures. Responsible for drafting, reviewing, and managing contracts, ensuring all transactions comply with local and international shipping regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Stay updated on maritime laws, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Provide risk assessment and mitigation strategies to ensure all transactions strictly comply with international shipping laws, standards, and internal policies.
  • Work closely with internal operations, legal, and finance teams to ensure smooth operational processes, seamless transaction execution, and service excellence. Manage clear, timely communication throughout each deal cycle and resolve any arising issues effectively.
  • Utilize shipping software and digital tools to track market data, manage client portfolios, and enhance the efficiency of the brokerage process.
Key Requirements :
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Shipping, Maritime, Logistics, or a related field. Advanced certifications in Maritime Law or related disciplines are an advantage.
  • 3-5 years’ hands-on experience in shipping brokerage, chartering, vessel sales, or maritime trading. A strong client base in the UAE or Middle East is a significant plus.
  • Solid understanding of shipping market dynamics, vessel classifications, chartering procedures, and maritime regulatory frameworks. Familiarity with maritime logistics, vessel technical parameters, and international trade regulations is essential.
  • Proficiency in using various digital tools and shipping databases to support market analysis, transaction tracking, resource planning, and client management.
  • Prefer candidates with shipping brokerage experience covering GCC and Africa trade routes, and with an established network across regional ports, shippers, and carriers. Experience working with major shipping lines in the UAE or broader Middle East region is highly desirable.
