Job Description
Job Purpose
In this role you will:
- Ensure the availability of daily work plans to enable the execution of all maintenance jobs, both planned and unplanned, ensuring plans are realistic, achievable, and address material and manpower requirements.
- Support the Service Delivery Manager (SDM)/Line Manager in the budget process, including target setting, plan development, and performance review of the section.
- Coordinate with section Supervisors, the Planning Team, Stores, and P&L Buyers to ensure resource availability for equipment serviceability.
- Undertake corrective actions or escalations to address shortages in materials or manpower.
- Organize and perform maintenance checks on equipment, facilities, machines, and tools to optimize lifespan and ensure operational reliability.
- Train and guide Technicians and Supervisors on maintenance techniques, fault diagnosis, safety, and ergonomic working methods.
- Organize induction and on-job training for new staff, making training interactive and engaging.
- Conduct inspections of ongoing jobs and validate post-job quality inspections.
- Assist the Service Delivery Manager/Line Manager in achieving workshop activities, ensuring resource availability for high-quality service delivery.
- Monitor performance of Supervisors, review staff rosters and leave plans, and adjust as needed based on manpower requirements.
- Review material, tool, and training needs periodically and escalate outstanding requirements.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and discipline across workshops and facilities.
- Use the Maintenance Management System (MMS) effectively for monitoring activities, approvals, performance analysis, and reporting.
- Perform final inspections and sign-offs in the MMS, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Conduct regular safety briefings, intervene in risks, role model safe behaviors, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to safety policies, procedures, and environmental standards to guarantee employee safety and legislative compliance.
Qualifications
To qualify for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in electrical, electronic, or mechanical engineering.
- For Bachelor's degree holders: 4-6 years of supervisory experience in an engineering and maintenance organization working with vehicles or cargo systems.
- For Diploma holders: 6-8 years of supervisory experience in similar settings.
- Safety awareness, with preferred first-aid and fire warden credentials.
- Knowledge of equipment, operations, maintenance, and engineering principles.
- Proven ability to supervise a multi-disciplinary team of Supervisors and Technicians.
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturer specifications and maintenance requirements.
- Ability to prepare mechanical, hydraulic, electrical drawings, and PLC software logic for cargo facilities.
