This individual will be part of the Franklin Templeton marketing team that is responsible for delivering impactful and measurable marketing initiatives across channels for the Canadian and UK business.
This position can be located in Toronto, Edinburgh, or London. Hybrid 3 days per week minimum in one of the above offices.
What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Senior Writer?
The Senior Writer plays a crucial role in developing and executing our content strategy across platforms. You will develop a creative and engaging content strategy that supports local business objectives and is tailored to the target market. Lead content creation efforts with thought leaders and collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce exciting and innovative content for the intended audience. Provide general investment writing support to the marketing teams. You should have exceptional storytelling and writing skills, a strong knowledge of markets and products, strategic thinking and attention to detail.
Ongoing responsibilities include:
- Partner with UK and Canadian channel marketers to build content strategy per market and per channel.
- Create innovative content across formats to support new and ongoing campaigns - videos, blogs, long-form articles, topic papers, infographics, etc., and determine the best format for content that aligns with the distribution plan.
- Aggregate content needs from key stakeholders and plan in line with current business priorities and marketing campaign plans.
- Develop distribution plan in partnership with channel marketers for the planned content leveraging owned and paid channels.
- Create new content as required by local markets ensuring it meets the business requirements and compliance rules of each market.
- Responsible to route, translate, and produce as needed.
- Curate and/or localize content acquired from global sources and distribute according to marketing plans.
- Coordinate production and compliance reviews including translation(s) and social posts.
- Ensure awareness of existing content among marketing and sales teams, and collect needs on regular basis.
- Look for collaborative opportunities and efficiencies with other local marketing and global teams.
- Actively participate in editorial planning calls with global teams representing the UK and Canada.
- Report on key KPIs (which content is performing best and with which platforms and formats).
- Provide general writing support for other marketing content including emails, landing pages, brochures, executive speaking notes, etc.
What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
- BA in communications or MBA.
- Extensive communications experience in asset management essential.
- Proven writing, editing and communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with seasoned portfolio managers.
- Advanced financial markets and trends knowledge, and an understanding of the products and vehicles.
- Strong understanding of either the Canadian or UK asset management industry.
- Experience in editorial content creation (writing skills), video creation, infographics (understand process and best practices).
- Fluent English spoken and written is essential French is an asset.
- Comfortable with using AI tools for copy, translation, and variations.
- Experience in client journey mapping and campaign analytics.
- Strong project management skills.
