Job summary

Dubai Municipality seeks a Veterinary Officer to monitor animal health and diagnose diseases, prescribing treatments to protect livestock resources. This role includes vaccination, sample collection, and fieldwork across farms and markets in Abu Dhabi.

The incumbent will oversee import surveillance, parasite control, and ensure proper disposal of infected animals in line with regulations, contributing to public health and animal welfare.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitor animal health and control diseases by conducting examinations and assessing health status.
• Diagnose illnesses and determine appropriate treatments and dosages.
• Administer vaccines and sera to animals to build immunity.
• Collect samples (blood, feces, etc.) and send to laboratories for diagnosis.
• Monitor animals imported into the country for diseases and pests.
• Oversee health at livestock markets, auctions, and events to prevent public health hazards.
• Supervise external parasite control and spraying of animals as required.
• Conduct field visits to farms, markets, slaughterhouses, and wildlife areas to ensure proper disposal of infected animals.

• Monitoring animal health and controlling diseases by conducting animal examinations, assessing their health status, diagnosing illnesses, determining the most appropriate treatments and medications, and prescribing the required dosages to ensure the protection and development of livestock resources.
• Administering vaccines and sera to animals to help them build immunity against diseases, protect them from infections, and carrying out animal disinfection procedures while ensuring the proper use of sterilization and sanitation equipment.
• Collecting samples from animals, such as blood, feces, and other specimens, and sending them to laboratories for the diagnosis of animal diseases.
• Continuously monitoring animals imported from outside the country to ensure they are free from diseases and various pests that could be introduced and spread infections to local livestock.
• Monitoring the overall health conditions at livestock markets, auctions, and animal-related events to ensure the absence of public health hazards and disease vectors, and taking appropriate control measures when necessary.
• Supervising and monitoring the control of external parasites affecting animals, including overseeing the spraying of animals with pesticides and specialized treatments to eliminate such parasites as required.
• Conducting field visits to animal holdings such as farms, livestock camps, livestock markets, municipal slaughterhouses, and wildlife in natural reserves to ensure the proper disposal of infected dead animals, as well as infected or suspected live animals suffering from contagious or zoonotic diseases, in accordance with approved regulations and requirements.
