Job description

We are seeking a Senior Group Underwriter to join our team in Dubai. Within this role, you will be responsible for underwriting health, life, and disability products for Allianz Partners' large corporate clients. The role is suited for an organized and highly analytical individual who enjoys working at the core of the business. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, committed, and have prior experience in an underwriting role, preferably in employee benefits.

What you do:

  • Evaluate and issue quotes for large corporate insurance schemes in accordance with company underwriting guidelines, pricing methodologies, and relevant regulations.
  • Gather and review background information to effectively assess risk.
  • Analyze claims data and risk factors to forecast future claims and set insurance premiums.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Relationship Management teams during contract renewals and tenders to meet KPIs while maintaining underwriting standards.
  • Prepare and issue client utilization reports, including commentary on observed trends and scheme performance.
  • Serve as a technical referral point for underwriting queries across the business.
  • Make sound underwriting decisions within authority limits based on individual assessments.
  • Manage queries within the team, ensuring quality service and timely responses.
  • Participate in strategic projects representing the Underwriting team.
  • Maintain documentation and file management standards.
  • Update and maintain work activity reports for management.

What you bring:

  • Experience in an underwriting role; experience in employee benefits is desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Third-level qualification in mathematics or a numerate field.
  • Proven teamwork and effective communication skills.
  • Strong Excel skills; competence in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize, collaborate, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
