Job summary

Royal Steensma B.V. seeks a Technical Superintendent responsible for the overall technical management, safe operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of an assigned dry bulk fleet.

You will act as shore-based support for vessel teams, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal vetting scores. Responsibilities include overseeing dry-docking, major retrofits (e.g., BWTS, scrubbers), and budget execution, while ensuring compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM/ISPS, and PSC regimes.

Qualifications

• Valid Chief Engineer Class 1 (STCW III/2) CoC with sea time on motor vessels or a degree in Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture.
• Minimum 2–3 years sea time as Chief Engineer or 2+ years in a shore-based Technical Superintendent role handling dry bulk vessels (Handysize–Capesize).
• Deep working knowledge of main engine systems (MAN B&W / WinGD / Wärtsilä), hydraulics, deck cranes, hold cleaning, and corrosion control.
• Strong familiarity with RightShip inspection frameworks, PSC regimes, and Class rules.
• Proficiency in maritime PMS/ERP software (AMOS, SERTICA, Danaos, Veson Nautical).

Responsibilities

• Monitor vessel performance, fuel consumption, machinery health, and PMS.
• Provide 24/7 technical troubleshooting support for vessel command teams.
• Oversee dry-docking, major retrofits, and afloat repairs on-site.
• Prepare and manage the technical OPEX budget and spare part store requisitions.
