- Acts as Technical Safety, Loss Prevention team lead for feasibility and concept study, pre-FEED, FEED and detailed design for the assigned projects.
- Prepare / review HSE designs philosophies, Fire & gas Detection and Fire Protection philosophy.
- Prepare / review Loss prevention deliverables such as Firefighting System Calculations, Hydraulic Studies, PFD’s, P&IDs, Layouts, Equipment Datasheets & Specifications, Passive Fire Protection.
- Schedule & Drawings, Fire & Gas Detection Layouts and Cause & Effect Diagrams, Hazardous Area Classification Schedule & Drawings, Escape Routes & Safety Signs Drawings.
- Provide Technical Safety, Loss Prevention input and review of engineering documents provided by other disciplines such as Process P&IDs, Cause and Effect diagram, shutdown & blowdown.
- Initiate and manage safety / technical safety studies to be performed by specialist safety consultants such as HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, QRA, FERA, EERA, inherent safety review, dropped object study, LOPA / SIL studies, fire & gas mapping studies, smoke and dispersion studies, building protection studies, SCE identification, and performance standards.
- Coordinate, monitor and handle Technical Safety, Loss Prevention engineering and design with EPC contractor as per project expectation and complete the same within the time frame.
- Work with other discipline engineers within PMC, EPC contractor, Vendors, and Client / Operation / Site Interface to resolve technical issues and ensure safety, quality and integrity in engineering.
- Provide technical guidance, job training to discipline engineers / junior engineers to ensure schedule adherence and quality of engineering documents.
Qualification
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in technical safety and loss prevention in a hydrocarbon producing or engineering consultancy with experience of working on Onshore, Offshore, and pipeline projects.
- Leading internal project technical safety review sessions i.e. HAZID / ENVID, HAZOP, SIL, etc. would be advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering. In addition, a master’s degree in technical safety or a certified Functional Safety Engineer / Professional is advantageous.
- Conversant with relevant International codes and standards (e.g. NFPA, API, IEC and others) and appropriate HSE & legislative requirements.
- Possess expert understanding of internationally recognized engineering and life safety / fire codes, standards and practices.
- Conversant with standards and guidelines of reputed oil & gas companies such as Shell, BP, Chevron, and ADNOC Group companies.
- Good oral and written communication skills and strong team working ethic, enthusiastic and positive with the ability to coach and mentor discipline engineers.
